Prime Minister issues message for Holocaust Remembrance Day
ZAGREB, Jan 26 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Wednesday issued a message on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is observed on January 27, saying that the memory of the Holocaust committed one to fighting against oppression, terror, evil and inhumanity, and building a world of tolerance, peace and togetherness.
"On the day when we remember the worst evil against humanity in the more recent past, it is difficult to imagine the horrific proportions of such a tragedy. What happened is unforgivable. What happened must never happen again," PM Kosor said in her message.
"In memory of the millions of innocent victims, those who were imprisoned, tortured and killed only because they were different, I will repeat that it is unacceptable to persecute anyone on racial, religious or ethnic grounds."
"In memory of the millions of destroyed families, we will repeat that states exist to protect their citizens and their human rights and that we condemn any regime trying to threaten them," Kosor said.
