ICTY chief prosecutor satisfied with Croatia's cooperation

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Serge Brammertz, met Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor in Zagreb on Friday, expressing his satisfaction with Croatia's cooperation with the Hague-based tribunal, the Croatian government said in a statement.

Brammertz, who succeeded Carla del Ponte as Chief Prosecutor in late December, said his office was ready to cooperate with the Croatian government to resolve all remaining outstanding issues.

This was Brammertz's first working visit to Zagreb and countries in the region. Later in the day, he was due to meet Croatian Chief Public Prosecutor Mladen Bajic.

Kosor, who chairs the Council for Cooperation with the ICTY, said that the government would continue to cooperate with the tribunal "resolutely, fully and sincerely."

Kosor expressed regret that the ICTY prosecution had not lodged an appeal against the acquittal of Yugoslav army officer Miroslav Radic, who was charged in the 1991 Ovcara massacre case.
