• Married with two children

Education
• 1987: Earned his Master's degree at the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb
• 1976: Graduated in foreign trade from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb
• 1972: Finished the Katja Pavišić-Šperac Secondary School in Omiš
• 1968: Finished the Pjero Perak Primary School in Omiš

Political Career
• 2008–2011: Elected to Croatian Parliament, Deputy Speaker and chairman of the European Integration Committee
• 2008: Member of the Central Board of the SDP
• 2004–2008: Elected to Croatian Parliament, chairman of the European Integration Committee
• Member of the SDP since 2004
• 2001– 2003: Minister for European Integration
• 2000– 2001: Chief negotiator of the Republic of Croatia on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union
